A recent article in "The Jewish Weekly" details that while the growth public may assume that competitive online daters would be inspired by the option to date online to "craft a more honest, authentic picture of themselves", in reality, deception may be more rampant than through traditional dating. The article states:
"Some women have reported cases of being financially deceived, sexually manipulated or verbally abused. Married men and women both have used Internet dating to meet potential partners for affairs. And then there are those who may not be cannibals, but aren’t exactly telling the whole truth either. How are we supposed to trust anyone if all involved, from the online dating providers to the clients, are misrepresenting themselves? "
The article examines the new lawsuits again Match.com and Yahoo! Personals and also takes a look at sites like TrueDater.com. The article poses the questions as to whether TrueDater.com is a good way to expose liars and frauds, or just a way for rejected singles to get payback. For the full article, click here.
