(Online Dating Industry Journal) GolfMates.com, a dating site launched last year that appeals to golfers and fans of golfers, was detailed in a recent article by The Daily Advertiser. According to the article:
"Golf has for decades been used as a conduit for companies seeking interaction between employees and clients, and conducting business on the course is universally accepted. Now, thanks to Golfmates.com, "conducting business" takes on an all-new meaning.
For skeptics, consider that online dating services are among the Internet's fastest-growing sites. The number of U.S. citizens using online personal ads is expected to reach 24 million by 2007. The USGA figures that over 25 million people over age 18 play at least once a week. More than sixty percent of golfers in the U.S. own home computers and almost that number use the Internet regularly."

Along with GolfMates.com, there are a few online dating sites that are also appealing to golfers. Among these is DateAGolfer.com, which opened this year, and several niche sites appealing to atheletes and sports fans in general, with specific areas for golf related matchmaking. With over sixty percent of golfers owning computers and using the internet, it looks like this niche dating genre may become popular for golf fans and those that want to date them. Meeting for a first date at the range is also a clever way to meet, with an activity both can enjoy, even if they don't enjoy each other.
