(Online Dating Industry Journal) A new online dating service, Shy Passions, tries to help shy singles find dates online. According to a press release by Shy Passions:
"Shy Passions is a new online dating site designed specifically for shy singles, regardless of their level of shyness: mild shyness, moderate shyness, extreme shyness, situational shyness, Asperger's Syndrome, Social Anxiety Disorder, or Social Phobia.
The idea behind the site is that it should be easier to take that first step, and say hello to someone, if you know that everyone on the site considers themselves to be at least a little shy too. Sending an email to someone isn't quite as scary when everyone is in the same boat.
Members are encouraged to define their shyness within the 'groups' section, so that other members have a sense of who they are chatting/emailing with. The 'groups' section was added as a way for people to find others who might be dealing with some of the same 'shyness' issues. After all, someone who is mildly shy may not understand what someone dealing with panic attacks and / or social phobia is going through."
This is yet another of the dozens of niche dating sites that are popping up frequently throughout the industry. It will be interesting to track the progress of Shy Passions and see if truly can "help shy singles take that first step."
