(Online Dating Industry Journal) PreDating, the speed dating sector of online dating company Cupid.com, will attempt to establish the Guinness™ World Record for the largest simultaneous speed dating event ever held in one evening. On Wednesday, February 8th , about 125 Cupid.com/PreDating parties are scheduled to be held in more than 100 cities in the US and Canada. The company is estimating that over 4,800 single people will participate in the goal to break the world record, working out to about 43,200 6-minute speed dates in one evening.
"We know that singles want to find someone special with whom to share Valentine’s Day,” said Eric P. Straus, President & CEO of Cupid.com. “What better time to attempt a new record for this new social phenomenon? This event will enable thousands of singles to meet their Valentine…and be a part of history.”
Reservations are now being accepted for the February 8th events. A special registration and information page has been established that lists cities throughout North America where speed dating parties will be held. Provided the requisite elements are fulfilled, Guinness World Records, Ltd. will certify the event following its conclusion and it may be listed in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
