(Online Dating Industry Journal) Well, they did it. Cupid.com/PreDating, North America’s largest speed dating company, just announced that its goal to establish the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous speed dating event ever held in one evening was reached. Last Wednesday, February 8th, more than 150 PreDating parties took place in 92 cities in the US and Canada in celebration of the approach Valentine’s Day. Nearly 3,000 singles participated in the record-breaking event, working out to more than 36,000 6-minute speed dates during the evening.
Eric P. Straus, President & CEO of Cupid.com said, "We know that singles want to find someone special with whom to share Valentine’s Day. We thought it would be fun to attempt to establish this new record just prior to the annual lovers’ holiday. I can tell you that we are thrilled with the participation and look forward to seeing Cupid.com in the Guinness™ Book of World Records.”
Now that the requisite elements have been fulfilled, Guinness World Records, Ltd. will certify the event, which may be listed in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Congrats Cupid! I think this was a fun idea (not to mention unique publicity) and hopefully some lonely singles found a date for Valentine’s Day.
