(Online Dating Industry Journal) With sites like AdultFriendFinder drawing in 10.1 million unique visitors a month, it is no surprise that a recent article in the Wall Street Journal noted that adult dating sites are continuing to thrive despite "sluggish growth for dating Web sites". From the article:
"AdultFriendFinder's traffic rose 67% in January from a year earlier, according to Nielsen. SexSearch.com, the second-most visited adult dating site, tripled its traffic to 3.2 million unique visitors in January while running online advertisements that promise "real people, real sex." Nielsen said traffic to InterActiveCorp.'s Match.com, the most popular of the traditional dating sites it tracks, grew 7% to 4.5 million unique visitors over the same period."
The article explained that while many of the men on the site go in with slightly skewed expectations about finding an immediate sex partner, there are some couples that find lasting relationships through adult-focused dating sites, even featuring one woman who met a man through AdultFriendFinder and has been with him for over two years.
