(Online Dating Industry Journal) After comedian Joan Rivers admitted to posting a profile on online dating service Match.com, Fox News has taken a closer look at celebrities and online dating. Fox lists Halle Berry, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, and director Luke Greenfield, along with Joan, as rumored to be dabbling in online dating.
The article also notes that sites like MySpace have several celebrity profiles, almost all of which are fake, but that aspiring actors may be getting some unsuspecting exposure from these sites. From the article:
Todd Shaeffer, an aspiring actor from Harrisburg, Penn., has a page on MySpace. While on the set of the upcoming M. Night Shamalayan film, “Lady in the Water” as an extra, Shaeffer said he told the first assistant director, John Rusk, his first name, to which Rusk replied, “Todd Shaeffer?” Shaeffer said yes and Rusk then asked, “Oh My Todd?” "Oh My Todd" is Shaeffer’s MySpace handle.
Celebrities like Berry and Cuomo who admit to using online dating in the past have so far not found any success, but maybe Joan Rivers will prove them all wrong.
