(Online Dating Industry Journal) This month's editorial on Online Dating Magazine takes a look at some of the recent rearrangements that Spark Networks has gone through and what errors they made by making those changes. Spark Networks has changed the URL of ChristianMingle.com to Relationships.com, changing Relationships.com from a general dating service into a Christian-focused service.
According to the editorial, not only did Spark Networks miss the mark by completely rebranding Christian Mingle with a new site name, but "Spark Networks completely missed the opportunity to enter the relationship services market with a URL that is perfect for a relationship service - Relationships.com! That leaves Spark Networks out of one of this competitive and growing marketplace."
Kim's Comments:
I completely agree. Christian Mingle was a fine site name, detailing exactly who it was targeting - Christians. Relationships.com would have been a perfect site name to try and compete with the eHarmony's and Chemistry.com's of the online world. Not sure exactly what the thought process was behind this change. If someone has any good insight on it I would be interested in hearing it.
