(Online Dating Industry Journal) USA Today just released an article focusing on one of the more unique and targeted online dating niche sites, Frumster.com. Frumster.com is an online dating service that is specifically geared toward matching Orthodox Jewish men and women. From the article:
"While there are plenty of Internet dating sites — including many that cater to Jews — what makes Passaic-based Frumster different is that it focuses on Jewish singles looking for marriage with someone who shares their religious values. The name comes from the Yiddish word "frum" which means "modest" — no relation to the word frumpy, said Derek Saker, the site's marketing director."
Similarly to several other dating services, Frumster.com asks users to fill out a personality profile, but, unlike other sites, many of the profile questions are directed towards their particular religion. Questions such as, according to USA Today, "How often do they read the Torah? Does a woman cover her hair? What type of head covering does a man wear? Does the person pray three times a day, just on holidays or never?" are just a few of the specific profile questions. For the full article on Frumster.com click here.

Here is more proof that niche online dating sites can be very successful for people with unique dating criteria. Frumster claims to have about 21,000 members, 80% of whom are Orthodox Jews. But, what is even better news is that the company says it has successfully matched 576 couples who are either already married or plan to marry. That means that, because of this unique niche, hundreds of more couples have found a partner that they may have never had the chance to meet without online dating. While it is a far cry from the 33,000 marriages a year that eHarmony boasts, this site caters to a very specific group of people and is doing a great job and helping those people find compatible matches it seems.
