(Online Dating Industry Journal) Perfectmatch.com has just launched their new Duet Analysis Profile, which puts an emphasis on personality and lifestyle. According to Perfectmatch, the profile is divided into a four-part grid which includes “a rich showcase of important information for relationship-oriented singles, including an in-depth personality analysis, perspective on their lifestyle and approach to relationships, their core values and ideals, and their personal preferences.”
You can check out the new profile set up here. Perfectmatch claims that the new profile “offers a counterbalance to the casual nature of most online matchmaking sites that focus on the member's photo by creating a totally new way of presenting its member profiles.” The Duet Analysis Profile is meant to compliment Perfectmatch’s Duet Total Compatibility System, co-developed by Pepper Schwartz, Ph.D. Perfectmatch states that Duet identifies a member’s personality time to help them better understand their relationship needs.
Perfectmatch’s CEO Duane Dahl had this to say: “To build a real relationship, you need to match people on a variety of critical criteria, not just a snapshot. The new profile reflects the fact that Perfectmatch is a great alternative to the picture personals approach casual online dating sites have used over the past decade for their profile pages.”
Perfectmatch’s goal is to offer a qualified, focused approach for adults 27-60+ looking for a community of quality members seeking relationships. The site now has over three million members.
Kim’s Comments:
The example shot of the new profile design looked unique and clean, but the wording seemed a little bit like a horoscope reading. I guess it all comes down to what tells more about your personality to other people - an automated response based on a detailed personality profile, or a few paragraphs written in your own words. I honestly am not sure. On the one hand, a personality profile may make you reveal things you would not normally when writing about yourself, but, there is still something to be said about using your own words to describe yourself. I’d be interested to hear what other’s think.

The next generation of prospective subscribers will demand technical information. Will be interesting if PerfectMatch's team could specify:
1) the ENSEMBLE (the whole set of different valid possibilities)
2) how exactly the compatibility matching method works (without revealing proprietary information). Is the main matching equation only a simple/multiple linear regression equation?
3) Which is the average number of "compatible real persons" for one person over the entire database? E.g.: 3 persons in a 100,000 persons database or 12 in 1,000,000. (or the 3 most compatible in 100,000 or the 12 most compatible in 1,000,000).
4) The whole precision E.g.: "Client#01, please contact Client#04, the probability of being compatible is as high as 92.55033557%, whole precision is 0.00000001%"
TIP: Dating Sites have very big databases (like 20,000,000 of different profiles!!!), so a whole precision as high as 0.00000001% is desired to avoid a big problem at many actual "Compatibility Matching" dating sites: searching by your own could be more precise than the matching algorithm.
5) if there are Scientific Papers (not books written by an expert) that substantiate the long_term mating success (Which is the weight assigned to personality traits over the whole profile?)
