(Online Dating Industry Journal) A new online dating service called Rich or Beautiful launched this week, targetting people who are either rich, beautiful, or both. The service is one in a growing trend of niche sites like MillionaireMatch.com, SugarDaddie.com and WealthyMen.com.
In order to become a "rich" member of Rich or Beautiful, you must make more than $200,000 a year. In order to become a "beautiful" member, you must be "approved" as really being "beautiful".
In a press release, the service claims, "The site is all set to take this industry by storm. Their novel concept is catching on at such a tremendous speed that the site believes it will have to make their member approvals even more stringent."
Joe's Comments
This site is set up to fail. There's nothing novel about it. There are sites that cater to the rich already. There are sites that cater to the beautiful already. There are sites that cater to both. But more significant, is that this service opened up like 99.9% of other online dating service that open and fail. They targetted the "world" and opened with just a few members. This method does not work because there are too many "new" services doing it and the niche is already filled with a handful of successful services, thus there is no need. And we are seeing more and more online daters turned off by sites that have a rating system in place to rate member pictures. They might benefit from reading my column, "So... You Wanna Start an Online Dating Service".
