(Online Dating Industry Journal) Three days after Online Dating Magazine put out a warning to single parents to beware of sex offenders at online dating services, MySpace has announced that it has purged 29,000 profiles of registered sex offenders from its database. MySpace is a social networking site that has faced pressure from some state attorney generals to reveal the number of sex offenders on their service. Last May, MySpace purged 7,000 profiles of registered sex offenders from its site, bringing the total to at least 36,000 known sex offenders using MySpace.

Last Saturday we posted the warning from Online Dating Magazine and today we learn that 29,000 registered sex offenders have been using MySpace? That's a bit scary. I must admit that as much as I dislike True.com for its unethical advertising and misleading practices, they have done one thing right with the background checks for sex offenders and the advertising that sex offenders will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law if using their service.
